Navy Knows Its Men; Jack Gordon Edits Pasco NAS 'Skywriter'

JACK GORDON, (s/lc) who wrote a sports column for The Progress during and after his O’Dea High years, is editor of “The Sky Writer,” Pasco Naval Air Station’s top flight service paper. That he is handling the assignment with marked success is no surprise to those who know his ability.

The men of Seattle's working press rate Jack Gordon the best publicity man any school in Seattle has had in some decades; and that goes for all the papers. He was, and is, a welcome visitor in every newsroom in this city, because he unfailingly produced NEWS and never “a piece to put in the paper for our school.” He has a native news sense and a facility for handling a story that no one ever got in college; and his natural ability is packaged in a personality that is a refreshing mixture of your favorite kid brother‘s naivete and the solid assurance of sure-fire “know how" and eager willingness to'cooperaté.

That Jack Gordon emerged from the peas-in-a-pod thousands in boot camp to do publicity work for which he is exceptionally qualified is a tribute not only to his talents but also to the Navy’s and his C. O’s ability to pick ’em and bring out the best in their men.
